Did you know...

LEON THE CHAMELEON ...

This is Mélanie's first published book. The idea took shape in a graphic design class at university (UQAM) in 1999.

CHESTER ...

This furry cat was first drawn in a university art project. He resurfaced in 2007 when Mélanie least expected it. The CHESTER series is published in France, Korea, Germany, China, UK, Italy, Mexico, Latin America and Poland.

AUGUSTINE ...

Just like Augustine, Mélanie knows what it's like to be the new kid at school.
Her family moved a lot when she was a child, from her native Quebec to Calgary, Winnipeg and Toronto, before returning again to her home province. Augustine's story has made its way to China, Korea, Spain, Taiwan, Indonesia, Australia and Japan.

HAVE I GOT A BOOK FOR YOU! ...

Mélanie studied advertising for three years before she decided to change careers.
Al Foxword, the salesman featured in this book, is a tribute to her business and sales studies!

The LEARNING WITH ANIMALS collection ...

The books in this collection were created to introduce basic concepts. Seventy-five different animals are featured to make it fun for young children to explore five concepts in five different settings: the Alphabet, with wild animals; Numbers from one to twelve with farmyard animals; Shapes with ocean animals; Colours with jungle animals; and Opposites with Arctic and Antarctic animals. And from alligator to zebra, the alphabet was designed to work in both English and French.

BEARCUB AND MAMA ...

This loving story was written by Sharon Jennings. Mélanie rendered the art on canvas with acrylic paint to get the fuzzy visual effect.

WHERE DOES A TIGER-HERON SPEND THE NIGHT? ...

Mélanie loves animals, and has a blue crown conure parrot named Kiwi. So she really enjoyed illustrating this lyrical look at birds written by Margaret Carney. It even inspired her to get some binoculars and do some bird watching.

YOU'RE FINALLY HERE! ...

First published by Disney Hyperion, this is the only book that Mélanie has created entirely on the computer. No pencils were harmed in its making!

SCAREDY SQUIRREL ...

This popular series began as a manuscript entitled WHAT IF? that featured a flying squirrel and many other animal characters. But she couldn’t get the story off the ground, so Mélanie put it away in a drawer. It was only when she pulled it out five years later, recognized a kindred spirit and devoted the whole manuscript to the newly-named Scaredy Squirrel that the story took flight. The rest is history.

BTW, Scaredy Squirrel is mentioned in bestselling author Elizabeth Berg's novel HOME SAFE.
